Premise
From the introduction:
You have been chosen to journey into the Caverns of Doom to recover the stolen machinery desperately needed by the Apple Computer Corporation for their new computer, the Apple IIe.
The town will reward you for each piece of machinery returned. In addition, Hokas Tokas says that he will reward you himself.
The Knight Marshal accompanies you to the cavern entrance. As he leaves a phantasmal scroll appears and it reads — "Good luck, godspeed (you'll need it)!!"
As you descend the stairs two stainless steel doors close behind you. Your quest has now begun.
Walkthrough
Developer Paul Hollander wrote a walkthrough for The Caverns of Doom that was published in the March 1997 issue of the EAG Newsletter and described the most direct route to the objective and exit. Hollander, who had previously converted Eamon to Commodore 64, includes in his walkthrough some helpful code modifications that players can make to add the missing exit, make exits appear in room descriptions, and minimize text scrolling.
Trivia
- Within the adventure, next to the Apple II in the computer room, may be found a copy of the actual adventure itself: "You see a floppy disk containing a copy of the Eamon adventure, Caverns of Doom."
- Elric, "Last of the Kings of the Isle of Melniboné", is the protagonist of a series of fantasy stories by Michael Moorcock. (Elric's friend Moonglum appears in The Caves of Eamon Bluff.)
