Premise

From the introduction:

You were walking through the Main Hall on your way back to the privy when you overheard an old man and another man in some kind of argument over wagering an old map. The old man said he would not wager such a valuable item, especially when it could be dangerous. The other man became quite beligerent and tried to take the map. There was a struggle and just as you decided to intervene the man pulled a knife and stabbed the old man.

When you stepped through the curtain to assist the older gentleman, the ruffian scrambled away in fear.

You went to the old man to help and with his dying breath he slipped you an old map and told you to never let it fall into the wrong hands, for it was a map to the secret entrance to the Temple of the Trolls. If the wrong people got ahold of it, and started raiding the temple, the ancient human-troll wars would start all over again.

You took the map and left the old man in the care of the local medic to try to go after the young man that stabbed him.

With no luck after several hours, you break off the search and begin wondering about the trollish legends. There are stories of great heroes and of tragedies in the history of the humans and trolls. Many of the legends tell of the great skill of the troll weapon-makers. Trolls with superior skill in the forging of magic weapons.

Suddenly a thought strikes you. You now possess a map to lead you to the troll empire. You have a chance to confront trolls on their own ground. Perhaps you can learn the secret of this great skill in weapon making — or better still, have the great Grommick forge a weapon for you! Some of the ancient tales said the trolls could be commissioned to forge a weapon for the human who was able to pay the price — and prove himself.

You set off with the map to find the temple of the trolls!!

Walkthrough

Adventure map by Frank Black

EAG president Tom Zuchowski wrote a detailed walkthrough for Temple of the Trolls published in the March 1999 issue of the Eamon Adventurer's Guild Newsletter. He notes that the walkthrough "hits every room and feature, even the ones not necessary to complete the quest," and even includes a program hack that players can use if they get stuck or lost.
