Premise

From the introduction:

When you left the Main Hall you met an old lady selling apples outside. When you refused to buy anything from her, she cursed you and then suddenly waved her hands and disappeared. You stood for a moment, staring at the spot where the old hag had stood. Then, as you started to turn and walk away, you noticed that the Main Hall and everything else around you was beginning to slowly fade away. Soon you seemed to be floating in the dark, empty void of outer space.

After what seemed like an eternity of hanging weightless in a stark, lonely vacuum, you felt like you were standing on solid ground. You looked down and saw what seemed to be sand. When you raised your head and looked around, you saw that you were standing in the desert in the middle of a camp of nomadic herders. They were friendly, and you stayed with them for several months, learning their language and customs. After this time, however, you decided that you really should resume your search for adventure.

One of the nomads, Zarlock, with whom you had become very close, offered to accompany and guide you on your search for adventure. So the two of you set out across the desert and, after many weeks of traveling on camelback, you came to a huge pyramid. You found a small entrance on the south side of the ancient structure, but Zarlock refused to enter. He told you that the pyramid had been built during the days when the gods dwelled on earth. He also said that it was a cursed house of pain and death and that he would never enter it. So you agreed to camp outside for the night, secretly hoping that in the morning you would be able to convince Zarlock to go with you into the pyramid.

When you awoke the next morning, Zarlock and the camels were gone. He left you plenty of supplies, but what were you supposed to do with them — carry them yourself? You waited for a few days in the hopes that Zarlock would return, but now you must decide what you will do. Will you risk death in the pyramid, or will you try to find some way home through the desert? It is your choice.
