The Halls of the Adept is an Eamon adventure written by Tim Berge and Johnathan Cottingham.
Premise
From the adventure's introduction:
Whilst partaking of the offerings of the Main Hall, you find several of the King's guard surrounding you. The captain of the guard says: "The King has need of your services. Come with us if you desire great adventure for a great reward. If not, we will seek another." Of course, you agree.
The captain and guards have escorted you to the King's hall. Two guards in red crystal armor bar your way, yet you hear a growl from inside the chamber: "Fools, let this warrior enter!" The guards allow you to enter, the King taking note of you as you walk in.
The King informs you, "The beautiful princess Aeriel has been kidnapped by an evil Adept."
This seems bad enough, but it is worse, because a war may break out if she is not returned in time to marry the barbarous king of the Northern Reaches. It is said this king has the aid of demon magic, and Eamon would be destroyed if you fail.
The king offers you a reward of 7500 gold pieces for Aeriel's return, and another 2500 for the Adept's body. And, of course, you may keep whatever you, well, acquire while questing. He gives you provisions and a horse, but cannot send another man with you at this time, as they are preparing for war, in case the worst comes to pass.
"May the gods of Eamon be with you."
