"Schmitty" (full name Ernst Stavro Jesse James Schmitt) is the owner of the Paris Casino located in the village.
Function within the Guild
Schmitty's Paris Casino is a bustling establishment that offers free drinks to visiting adventurers along with the chance to gamble their hard- earned gold on the spin of his garishly-coloured roulette wheels. It is possible to win up to ten times the amount staked, though there is a betting limit of 10000 gold.
Personality
The Eamon Deluxe Manual describes Schmitty as a pleasant and outgoing businessman who ignores grumbles and rumours against him, and is happy that his business is good. It also notes that the odds on Schmitty's wheels actually aren't too terrible, though Schmitty is said to be making enough money to afford to be generous.
Appearances
Schmitty first appeared in Rick Volberding's Graphics Main Hall and was ported to Eamon Deluxe along with the other vendors from the village and his personality was expanded in the Eamon Deluxe manual by Luke Hewitt and Frank Black in an effort to give the newer characters in Eamon Deluxe the same sort of personality as those from the original Eamon.
Trivia
- Schmitty was unnamed in the Graphics Main Hall, and his lengthy full name is the result of a collaboration between Black and Hewitt. Luke Hewitt contributed the name "Ernst Stavro" as a reference to the James Bond master villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld;
- While it might appear "Jesse James" is from the name of the famous outlaw, who also appears in The Beginner's Forest, it is actually a nod to Frank Black's brother, Jesse James Paris. This is also why Schmitty's establishment is called the Paris Casino.
