Wiki:Tasks

This page is for editors to list any major tasks they're working on, as well as to list various things they'd like to see done in the wiki. There's no need to list small tasks, but it's handy to list big projects that are complex or that may take some time to complete.
If you finish one of these tasks, please remove it from the list.
The following is a "wishlist" of improvements and additions that are either lower priority or time-consuming enough that they'll take quite a bit of time to complete. Some will take years to get through and are best thought of as long-term goals.
Article content
- Flesh out the article on Eamon itself — it's arguably the most important article in the wiki and has been left incomplete for too long.
- Flesh out other "key articles", particularly those on the game's history and on the clubs.
- Flesh out all the adventure articles (with background information, plot synopsis, verbatim intro text, walkthrough, map, location info, reviews, trivia, and a flavor image)
- Wikify all the adventure notes and reviews contained in Eamon Deluxe 5.0.
- Complete the annotations for the Main Program 7.1 Tour.
- Figure out the best way to include lists of rooms, artifacts, and monsters in adventure articles. It'd be cool if each adventure article could at least show the total value of the obtainable loot, and it'd be ideal if the full characteristics of every r/a/m could be shown (like in Derek's Eamon Adventure Browser).
- Commission some aspiring artists to create artwork for key articles.
- Create a template for displaying an adventurer record.
- Supplement the newsletter directories with a bug fix list (similar to the EAG's)
- Link each adventure article to the issues with related bug fixes
Source material and files
- Acquire all the remaining Eamon articles listed in the bibliography, and get permissions to reproduce them.
- Finish setting up the Software Portal. Work out the appropriate license to assign to the files.
- Mass upload all original adventure code into corresponding Source pages.
- The Eamon Designer's Guide by John Nelson: was it completed and does it exist?
- Get some screenshots of Eamon on JAVA in operation.
- Capture all sound effects. (City in the Clouds (sound effects), Grunewalde (music), The Boy and the Bard (musical instruments?), The Prism of Shadows (music), Dawn of the Warlock (music), Dungeon of Doom (sound effects), Gamma 1 (sound effect when enemy dies), Cliffs of Fire (music), 5.25-inch drive effects.)
- Create templates for styling links to a source article, source file, software file, etc.
Research
- Keep contacting Eamon authors and developers for recollections/reminiscences.
- How did the dragon artwork come to be used in Eamon?
- Who was the artist who painted the cover artwork for CE Software's SwordThrust series?
- What are the publication dates (month and year) of the four Softdisk adventures?
- Is Warlord of Warrick by John Nelson an unreleased adventure?
- Are Eamon Master RF, Guildhall, and the two Annex disks available?
- How did the EAG obtain Genz's Caverns of the Sphinx and Braun's Dracula's Chateau? Genz confirms both were completed in mid-to-late 1981 and were submitted only to their local Apple II computer club in Denver, so it'd be interesting to know where Tom Zuchowski found them.
- Who are Sam, King Gordo, and Starshine?
- "Threerds"?
- The City in the Sky, mentioned in Tim Berge's Land of Death as a "future adventure" by Mike Phillips.
- Find a copy of Harrogate Hotel.
- Find out about Washington Apple Pi's Temple of the Undead (catalog)
External tasks
- Edit Wikipedia's Eamon article to get it to featured article status. Getting the article featured on Wikipedia's front page around the time of the 50th anniversary (in early 2030) would be wonderful! Also nominate some Eamon-related "did you know" hooks for the front page.
- Edit articles on Eamon games at Tolkien Gateway.
- Edit the Eamon article at IFWiki.
- Finish setting up a Zazzle storefront for map/art prints.
System
- Learn how to use Content-Disposition headers in Ubuntu to remove underscores from filenames on download.
- Install Pywikibot; configure the Burly Irishman bot to handle more routine tasks.
- Install Lampost.
Other
- Consider/discuss plans for long-term preservation of original Eamon disks, newsletters, etc. Materials may be lost forever when a key community member dies, but those materials could remain accessible if they were granted to an institutional caretaker. Possibilities: the Media Archaeology Lab, the Internet Archive Software Library, Stanford's Apple Computer collections, etc.
