A monster is any living being or creature in an Eamon adventure other than the adventurer himself. The term "monster" applies to all such beings regardless of their nature; in his player's manual, Donald Brown writes that the "citizens of Eamon" are "generically called monsters" and explains that "not all monsters are bad – you can sometimes make friends with a few of them, and their assistance may make the difference between life and death!"

Role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons tend to refer to a monster as a non-player character or NPC.

Tom Zuchowski describes the default characteristics of monsters in the Eamon Dungeon Designer's Manual.
