Tasavalta

The Tasavalta is an extinct land described by Matthew Clark in The Sword of Inari. In the ancient past a mysterious hero named Nuorgam, wielding a blade known as the Sword of Inari, arrived in the land and inspired the local peasantry to rise up against the dark evil that was repressing them. Once freed, the people established a free republic that became a safe and prosperous haven for its citizens.

Two hundred years later the great evil returned, but without Nuorgam or his sword to defend them it killed every inhabitant, razed every structure, and even split open the land itself, completely obliterating the Tasavalta. Legends indicate that the destruction occurred at least 20,000 years ago.

The modern city of Tornio may be in the same region.
