Playing Eamon
Playing Eamon is easier now than ever thanks to a wide range of emulators and conversions that have brought the game to a variety of modern platforms. The sections below detail all the known means of playing Eamon.
Playing online
Eamon on Javascript
Webmaster Matthew Clark added this feature to the EAG Online website to allow visitors to play the classic Eamon adventures right in their browser. The feature is based on the apple2e emulator and includes 248 adventure DSK images from the site's software archive. It also allows users to select DSKs from their local machine.

Eamon Deluxe
Frank Black's Eamon Deluxe anthologizes 177 classic adventures (roughly two-thirds of the Eamon corpus) into a single downloadable system that can run on PC, Mac, or Linux. The system introduces an enhanced Main Hall and makes many refinements to individual adventures.
Eamon Deluxe is available from the Software Portal or from eamonag.org/pages/platforms/eamondx.
Eamon CS
This project by Michael Penner modernizes the game's architecture while retaining the logic of the classic game, all in a downloadable, pre-compiled form that runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows. It also features tools for creating original adventures.
Eamon CS is available at github.com/TheRealEamonCS/Eamon-CS.
Apple II emulators
Emulators offer a means of running the original Eamon software on modern devices. AppleWin is an excellent option for Windows systems, with support for the DSK format that's used for most disk images in the Software Portal. The Virtual II emulator is a good choice for Macs.
Apple II
Eamon was originally created to run on Apple II personal computers, and those with working hardware and physical media can still do so. If you don't have the master disk or adventure disks, they sometimes come up for auction on eBay, either individually or in larger lots of vintage software. Alternatively, you can download software image files (from the Software Portal, EAG Online, or elsewhere) and then write them to floppy disks using applications like the Applesauce Floppy Drive Controller.
