Eamontales.com was a website founded and operated by Eamon creator Donald Brown who used it to share his various projects and interests. The site launched in May 2000 and closed in mid-2016.

History

Eamon Story-Telling Log

Brown titled the first iteration of his site the "Eamon Story-Telling Log", describing it as a place "where I, Donald Brown, opine on things I do or don't know about." Its main areas were:

  • "Tales of Wonder" where Brown shared his original works of fiction: "Internet Time", a short story about getting too tied up in one's work; "Going Home Again", a Superman/Lex Luthor story; and "Two Roads Taken", a two-part novella about a pair of future societies in conflict.
  • "Peering at the World", a collection of essays on diverse topics such as politics, philosophy, and health.
  • "GadgetMania" where Brown offered thoughts, opinions, and advice on electronic gadgets.
  • "Cool Stuff" for his reviews of software, electronics, comics, movies, websites, etc.

Domesticated Arcades

In early 2004 Brown relaunched the site as "Domesticated Arcades" (also at domesticatedarcades.com) to focus more on his eclectic electronics projects. "I like to make things with computers inside," Brown wrote at the time. "Weird things." Projects included "Ebony and Ivory", which combined a Mac and a PC in a single case; "Wurlitzer PC" which put a PC into a classic jukebox; and a variety of arcade game cabinet projects including making portable versions of arcade games and fitting an arcade cabinet inside a coffee table. Brown also linked to his blog and related forums at Spymac. Most of the previous site's content was still retained in the "Articles" section.

In 2006 Brown noted that his projects were mostly on hold awaiting time and resources, and the site became dormant for several years.

GadgetMania

Brown revived the site again in early 2015 as "GadgetMania", a single-page RSB ("Really Simple Blog") with posts on a variety of subjects. By mid-2016 the eamontales.com domain had expired and the site was no longer online.

Brown continued to operate the blog from the companion domain gadgetdon.com until early 2023.
