Eamon S.A.R.-1: The Deneb Raid is an Eamon adventure written by David Crawford.

Premise

You're the leader of a futuristic team of commandos known as the Eamon Search and Rescue Command who take on difficult rescue missions across the galaxy. When word arrives that Princess Lisa, a member of the royal family of Deneb III, has been captured by terrorists, the Crown Prince calls for your team to help free her.

You mobilize your team and in a couple of hours arrive at Alteron Spaceport on Deneb. The local marines have pinpointed the building where the terrorists are holding the princess and identified a side door where you should be able to enter.

Full introduction

There is a small group on Eamon whose members are behind a legend that is feared by all in this universe who are evil. This group is the Eamon Search and Rescue Command. It consists of only the most brave, honorable, and skilled adventurers. Admission to this command is only by the recommendation of the Eamon High Council. You are one of the select few of this command, and hold the rank of strike leader. All of your needs are met by the government of Eamon, in return for your services. Any booty you find on a strike is shire tax exempt!

The mission of the Eamon Search and Rescue Command is to find and rescue adventurers, and others, who are in danger that they cannot do something about.

Today, as you enter the ready room, you can't shake that unmistakable feeling that someone is in danger...

The morning news on ETS reports that trouble is really brewing in the Deneb system. Your best friend, Johann, just pulled up a report onto the CRT. A strike team went to Deneb III two weeks ago. The opposing force was a group of terrorists, and the leader of the group escaped the local security brigade.

This joker has the idea that he and his remaining low-lifes can overthrow the ruling families of the Deneb system, and the Crown Prince.

A few phone calls verify that all is ready. The rest of your strike team is in the dayroom.

About 10 am, a very worried royal Denebian marine enters the room, and hands you a wax sealed envelope with the crest of the Crown Price of Deneb on it! You ask the marine to sit down. You open it, and read the letter inside...

"To Eamon S.A.R. Command: Please come to Deneb III and help me out. My daughter, Princess Lisa, has been kidnapped by the Deneb Liberation Army, the DLA. Our marines will find her, but the rescue will be yours to carry out. Please hurry!"

It is signed by Crown Prince Johnathan.

The prince is a personal friend of yours, so this is now a matter of personal honor for you...

It is surprising just how fast one can launch a rescue strike. You call the standby team to go to ready status, then press the alarm button. In 10 minutes you are airborne, and two hours later, you land at Alteron Spaceport. It is evening, and as the letter stated, the royal marines have the princess and her captors pinpointed.

The target structure is a large office-warehouse complex in the seedy section of town. Scanners show that the main and back entrances are alarmed and booby-trapped. There is a side door that is not alarmed, booby-trapped, or guarded. The royal marine brigade is quietly encircling the complex. They lost some troops to this bunch, and they want to avenge their deaths on those responsible for them. Anyone who tries to escape will be caught, and if it's a terrorist... we won't discuss such things...

It is time to strike!
